The unprecedented speed of modern mass urbanization
In short: While cities have long served as centers of civilization, our current urban transformation is happening at a scale and velocity never seen before in human history.
The documentary examines how the global urban fabric is undergoing a radical shift. In just a few decades, the world is doubling its urban capacity to accommodate an additional 2 to 3 billion people.
This rapid expansion explores the development of urban networks as a new geography of connectivity defined by globalization. It contextualizes why current trends are historically unique compared to the rise and fall of past empires or corporations.
