The voice actress who won a million-yen horse racing bet
In short: Lynn is a staple of the Japanese anime industry, known for bringing diverse characters to life. But beyond her work at Arts Vision, she has achieved a rare feat of luck: winning massive payouts on international and domestic horse races with high-odds trifecta tickets.
Lynn's journey into voice acting commenced during her nursery school years; she was born in Yokosuka to parents of Japanese and American descent. Her interest in entertainment was sparked by her mother’s history in bands. While watching series like Case Closed and Inuyasha as a child, she eventually pursued formal training at the Japan Narration Acting Institute. This dedication required significant commitment; while attending high school, she traveled from Niigata Prefecture to Tokyo every Sunday via Shinkansen specifically for lessons. She served as a manager for her school's basketball club during her secondary education. A performance at the cultural festival in her third year provided significant inspiration.
Lynn's professional career began with Japanese dubs of foreign media and background anime roles before she landed her first main role as Maya Kyōdō in Sabagebu!. Since then, she has voiced prominent characters in major franchises including Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Engage Kiss. Her versatility is further evidenced by her musical contributions, having performed two insert songs for the anime series Fuuka. Her portfolio includes roles in High School Fleet and We Never Learn. She also portrayed characters in Girly Air Force and Idol Incidents.
In a departure from her primary profession, Lynn is also an avid horse racing bettor with notable successes. On October 4, 2020, she won at the 99th Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, with a trifecta ticket yielding odds of 1010.8 times. On 4 April 2021, a trifecta payout exceeding one million yen from 1062.1 odds secured her victory at Hanshin Racecourse during the 65th Osaka Cup. These victories occurred during specific international and domestic events. Her betting success highlights a unique hobby outside of her voice acting career.
