In short: In the high-stakes world of K-pop, breaking records as a rookie is the ultimate litmus test. Oh My Girl achieved this feat in 2016, selling out their first solo concert in a mere 180 seconds. Their journey from a sister group to chart-topping icons is a masterclass in persistence.

Formed by WM Entertainment and debuting on April 20, 2015, Oh My Girl was initially introduced as the sister group to the label-mate act B1A4. The group originally launched as an eight-member ensemble, but faced significant challenges early on. In 2017, member JinE took a hiatus to treat anorexia nervosa, eventually leading to her official departure from the group in October of that year. The group reorganized and continued to build momentum, notably featuring a pink dolphin in their 'Coloring Book' music video as a tribute to JinE.

The group's commercial trajectory shifted significantly in 2016. After releasing the EP 'Pink Ocean', they performed a special summer single album that became their first to top the Gaon weekly charts. During this era, the ensemble established a new milestone for newcomers by exhausting all 'Summer Fairy Tales' tickets at Seoul's Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in just three minutes after they launched. They later secured their first music show trophies in early 2018 with the release of 'Secret Garden'.

Expanding into international markets, the group achieved significant success in Japan. Their debut Japanese album topped the Oricon Daily Album Chart in January 2019, selling 9,383 physical copies and peaking at number 2 on the weekly chart. They also gained recognition in Korea by topping the Gaon Digital Chart with 'Dun Dun Dance' in 2021. Despite member changes—including Jiho's departure in 2022 and the rebranding of Binnie to Yubin—the group has remained active, recently releasing 'Dreamy Resonance' in 2024 and transitioning to DSP Media in August 2026.

The group's longevity is marked by strategic sub-units and diverse collaborations. The sub-unit Oh My Girl Banhana (comprising Hyojung, Yubin, and Arin) debuted in 2018, while the full group has collaborated with brands like Girl Scouts Korea and even characters like Pororo the Little Penguin. As of 2025, the group celebrated its tenth anniversary with the digital single 'Oh My'.
