Can watching violence actually shape a child's behavior?

The Dark Side of Science: The Bobo Doll Experiment 1963 (Short Documentary) · 17:36 · Video: Plainly Difficult · Watch at the source

In short: Explore the landmark 1963 Bobo Doll experiment, which tested how children mirror the actions of adults. This documentary examines Albert Bandura's social learning theory and its lasting impact on public policy.

Between 1961 and 1963, psychologist Albert Bandura conducted a series of studies to test social learning theory. Children were observed after watching an adult model act aggressively toward a 'Bobo the clown' doll. The most prominent version of this study measured how children reacted when the adult was rewarded, punished, or faced no consequences for their physical attacks.

While controversial, the Bobo Doll experiment is often cited as less severe than the Baby Albert study. However, its findings became a primary justification for the anti-video game movement during the 1980s and 1990s.
