NASA's Antares rocket prepares for a critical orbital test flight

Antares Anticipating Launch on This Week @ NASA · 5:43 · Video: NASA · Watch at the source

In short: After a technical setback during its initial countdown, the Antares rocket is poised to attempt its first flight under NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program.

The Antares rocket is currently stationed at Pad 0-A at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport's Wallops Flight Facility. This mission serves as a demonstration flight to test the rocket's capabilities under the COTS program.

The flight will carry a simulated Cygnus spacecraft into orbit, intended to prove the system's reliability before the real Cygnus begins delivering cargo to the International Space Station. The previous launch attempt was canceled on Wednesday when a data umbilical connection separated prematurely.
