Andreas Mogensen concludes his historic six-month mission aboard the International Space Station
After half a year in orbit, astronaut Andreas Mogensen returns to Earth. This video highlights his time as the first international pilot of a SpaceX Crew Dragon and his record-breaking tenure as a European commander of the International Space Station.
Launched in August 2023, Mogensen’s Huginn mission marked a milestone as he became the inaugural non-American pilot for the SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle. By September 2023, he assumed command of the International Space Station, eventually setting a record in January 2024 for the longest duration served by a European in that leadership role.
During his six-month stay, Mogensen conducted over 30 European research projects alongside various international studies. His work spanned diverse scientific fields, including advancements in water filtration, investigations into human physiological responses to space, and atmospheric research focused on thunderclouds. He returns to Earth alongside his Crew-7 colleagues: Jasmin Moghbeli, Satoshi Furukawa, and Konstantin Borisov.
