The logistics of life: how a cargo craft fuels the ISS
In short: Space exploration requires more than just rockets; it demands a constant, precise supply chain. This video captures the delicate process of mating an Orbital ATK Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station.
Launched on March 22, the Cygnus cargo craft carried nearly 7,500 pounds of essential materials, including research equipment, vehicle hardware, and crew supplies. The mission highlights the ongoing logistical effort required to maintain a permanent human presence in orbit.
After arriving at the station on March 26, the spacecraft was grappled by the Canadarm2 robotic arm. For a period of two months, it will be situated at the Unity module's Earth-facing port following its installation.
