The final rehearsal for the end of an era in spaceflight
In short: Observe the final space shuttle's four-person team practice escaping during a crisis. This footage captures a critical moment of equipment familiarization during the final dress rehearsal before the shuttle program concluded.
On June 22, the crew participated in the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. This full launch dress rehearsal served as a vital opportunity for both astronauts and ground crews to practice simulated countdown activities.
A primary focus of this specific session was the operation of slidewire baskets. Training on these emergency exit systems ensured the crew was prepared for high-stakes scenarios during the shuttle's final mission.
