What happens to the human body after 186 days in orbit?

First interview with Tim Peake back on Earth · 19:00 · Video: European Space Agency, ESA · Watch at the source

In short: Following his return to Earth, ESA astronaut Tim Peake discusses the conclusion of his Principia mission and the ongoing scientific study of his physical and mental adaptation to space.

Recorded in Cologne, Germany, this interview takes place one day after the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft landed in the Kazakhstan steppe on Saturday, 18 June. The mission, which included NASA's Tim Kopra and commander Yuri Malenchenko, concluded a 186-day stay aboard the International Space Station.

By finishing his extended spaceflight, Peake becomes the eighth ESA astronaut to provide scientists with essential information regarding physical and mental adaptations to microgravity. He is the third ESA astronaut, following Alexander Gerst and Andreas Mogensen, to fly directly to the agency's home base in Cologne for medical evaluations.
