A final farewell for the Space Shuttle's last external fuel tank
In short: Witness the departure of ET-138, the final external tank destined for the Space Shuttle program, as it begins its 900-mile journey from New Orleans to Florida.
The video captures the July 8 roll-away of ET-138 from the Michoud Assembly Facility. This tank, completed by Lockheed Martin workers on June 28, is the last of 134 external tanks delivered by Michoud employees over a 37-year period.
The tank is traveling by sea to the Kennedy Space Center to support the STS-134 mission, which is scheduled for November 1 and will carry the shuttle Endeavour into space.
