Inside the final preparations for a Soyuz rocket launch
In short: Witness the rollout of the Soyuz rocket to the launch pad in Kazakhstan. This video captures the intense quarantine and preparation period ahead of the Expedition 42/43 mission to the International Space Station.
From the Baikonur Cosmodrome, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen documents the movement of the Soyuz rocket as the crew prepares for launch on 23 November. Mogensen is currently in quarantine with the Expedition 42/43 crew, gaining firsthand experience of launch protocols before his own upcoming mission to the ISS in September 2015.
The footage also features ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, a member of the Expedition 42/43 crew, who is scheduled for a six-month stay on the Space Station as part of the Futura mission.
