How nine astronauts returned to the International Space Station together
In short: This video captures the IRISS mission arrival at the International Space Station. Witness the precise moment Andreas Mogensen and his crew joined six existing astronauts, marking the first time nine people have occupied the station simultaneously since 2013.
The IRISS mission, led by ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, focuses on testing advanced technologies to improve long-duration space operations. During his ten-day stay, Mogensen is evaluating several innovations, including a nature-mimicking water-cleaning membrane and hands-free goggles designed for complex tasks. He is also testing a specialized suit intended to reduce the back pain frequently experienced by astronauts. To prepare for future exploration deeper into the Solar System, the mission involves rigorous preparation, such as driving three different rovers on Earth.
