ISS Crew Discusses Dragon Arrival · 18:45 · Video: NASA · Watch at the source

In short: In May 2012, NASA and ESA astronauts discussed the arrival of SpaceX's Dragon, marking a milestone as the first commercial cargo craft to resupply the International Space Station. This video captures the crew's perspective shortly after opening the hatch to this new era of private-sector space logistics.

On May 26, 2012, Expedition 31 flight engineers Don Pettit, Joe Acaba, and Andre Kuipers spoke with reporters following the successful berthing of the Dragon vehicle to the station's Harmony module. This mission represented the first time a private company launched a cargo craft to support the international complex.

The Dragon vehicle remained attached to the station until May 31, 2012. During this period, the crew unloaded essential supplies. Following the mission, the craft was scheduled for re-grappling and release, concluding with a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean near southern California.
