A musical bridge between Earth and the International Space Station
In short: Watch a unique cultural tribute as the Portland-based band Pink Martini sends a musical greeting to astronauts preparing for a critical docking maneuver in orbit.
On February 24, 2011, lead singer China Forbes dedicated the track "Dosvedanya Mio Bombino" to ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Kaleri. The song, which explores themes of Russia and Italy, served as a tribute during the docking of the ATV Johannes Kepler with the International Space Station.
The video combines this musical dedication with actual footage of the ISS and the ATV docking process, highlighting the intersection of international cooperation and artistic expression in space exploration.
