The high-stakes logistics of welcoming new guests to orbit
In short: Space travel requires more than just docking; it demands seamless coordination between international crews. The footage records Expedition 23's official reception of the STS-132 team at the International Space Station.
After Atlantis docked on a Sunday, those already aboard the International Space Station got ready for a seven-day period with guests. Oleg Kotov (Commander), Mikhail Kornienko and Alexander Skvortsov (flight engineers), plus NASA's Tracy Caldwell Dyson and T.J. Creamer, hosted the group. They were joined by Soichi Noguchi, who represented JAXA.
To perform their planned tasks, Commander Ken Ham, Pilot Tony Antonelli, and Specialists Garrett Reisman, Steve Bowen, Mike Good, plus Piers Sellers arrived. These interactions highlight the collaborative nature of orbital operations between various international space agencies.
