In short: ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano introduces the Volare robotics challenge, a competition where young participants race to unload, carry, and store cargo using robots on a model of the International Space Station.

The Volare robotics challenge is the first competition of its kind hosted by the European Space Agency, using a mock-up of the International Space Station to simulate space operations. Participants must apply gaming and do-it-yourself skills to complete complex robotic tasks.

Teams enjoy substantial creative liberty while participating in three age categories ranging from 11 to 19 years. They may use shop-bought kits or recycled parts, provided they meet safety requirements, allowing for diverse engineering approaches.
