In short: Before he was a five-time Pro Bowler, DeAndre Hopkins was known by a different name. His mother dubbed him "Nuk" because he had a habit of chewing through NUK brand pacifiers. Today, that nickname follows him as he dominates on the football field.

Born on June 6, 1992, DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins has built a distinguished career as a professional wide receiver. His journey to the NFL began at Clemson University, where he played from 2010 to 2012. During his junior season in 2012, he delivered one of the most impressive performances in ACC history, recording 1,405 receiving yards on 82 catches and setting a school record with 18 touchdowns. He was a standout multi-sport athlete, even playing as a point guard and shooting guard for the Lions basketball team. During his time at Clemson, he also contributed to the Tigers' basketball squad for seven games.

The Houston Texans selected Hopkins in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft with the 27th overall pick. His rookie year was marked by immediate impact, earning him a spot on the NFL All-Rookie Team after recording 802 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He later became the Texans' leading receiver in 2014, tallying 1,210 yards and six touchdowns over 16 games. After his stint in Houston, he represented various teams, such as the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals. His professional success was further highlighted by being named to five All-Pro teams.

Hopkins's versatility was evident early on; during his high school years at D. W. Daniel High School, he was a standout in football, basketball, and track and field. During his 2009–10 senior football campaign, he tallied 18 offensive touchdowns and 57 catches for 1,266 yards, plus 28 defensive interceptions and five scores. Such versatility across sports enabled his ranking as South Carolina's 12th best wide receiver and a top-12 national prospect. In addition to his football prowess, he was highly regarded by various sports media outlets, including ESPN, which ranked him as the 29th best athlete. His high school career was also marked by being named the player of the year by the Independent Mail.
