In short: Founded in 2010 as a Call of Duty clan, FaZe Clan transformed gaming culture through personality-driven content. However, its journey from a YouTube sensation to a NASDAQ-listed corporation has been marked by volatile valuations, celebrity investments, and a dramatic organizational restructuring.

FaZe Clan began as FaZe Sniping, a group of three players—Eric "ClipZ" Rivera, Jeff "House Cat" Emann, and Ben "Resistance" Christensen—who gained fame on YouTube for innovating trickshotting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. By 2012, the channel had reached one million subscribers. This personality-driven approach allowed the brand to expand from simple gameplay clips into a massive lifestyle and esports organization, even becoming the first esports team to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2021.

The organization's financial trajectory has been turbulent. In 2020, FaZe was valued at $305 million with monthly revenues estimated at $40 million. A 2022 merger with B. Riley Principal aimed for a $1 billion valuation, but the company went public on NASDAQ with a lower valuation of $725 million. By early 2023, the stock price fell below one dollar, triggering delisting warnings. Although revenue grew by 25% from 2021 through 2022, the firm saw deficits of roughly $14 million during 2023's initial two quarters.

Recent years have seen radical restructuring. In 2023, GameSquare acquired FaZe Holdings, leading to a spin-off that separated esports assets from media operations. By late 2025, internal disputes and an ultimatum from DraftKings president Matt Kalish regarding a new agency led to a mass exodus of creators. This resulted in the closure of FaZe Media and the formation of CORE, a new content group by former members including Stable Ronaldo and JasonTheWeen.
