From a small town of 150 to AFL superstar
In short: Growing up in Dartmoor, a town of just 150 people, Jeremy Cameron was playing against grown men by age 16. Today, he is a dual Coleman Medalist and a premiership player, having evolved from a specialist forward into one of the league's most versatile offensive weapons.
Jeremy Cameron's ascent in the Australian Football League (AFL) began with a rapid rise through the junior ranks. After playing for Dartmoor Reserves as a 14-year-old, he was already kicking 69 goals against men by age 16 in 2009. By 2012, he was a key figure for the inaugural Greater Western Sydney Giants, becoming the first player from that club to be named an All-Australian in 2013.
His career has been defined by both immense scoring power and tactical evolution. While he established himself as a lethal full-forward—winning his first Coleman Medal in 2019 with 67 goals—he later transformed his game. In 2022, he began utilizing his mobility to roam the ground as a high half-forward, a move that helped Geelong secure a premiership and saw him finish eighth in the Brownlow Medal voting.
Despite his success, his journey has faced significant hurdles, including injuries and disciplinary suspensions. His 2019 season was a career-high in almost every statistical category, including a 3.3 goals-per-game average. However, his career has also been marked by volatility, from a five-game suspension in 2018 to a severe shoulder injury in 2026 that threatened his season.
Cameron's impact is evidenced by his longevity and consistency. He has become a five-time All-Australian and has secured two Coleman Medals, the first in 2019 and a second in 2025, after a remarkable 83-goal season.
