The bloodthirsty enforcer who finds genuine pleasure in the art of combat
In short: In the vast Viltrumite Empire, most warriors fight for expansion. But Conquest is different. A millennia-old survivor of civil war and biological plague, this high-ranking warrior seeks out prolonged battles not for conquest, but for the sheer joy of violence.
Conquest is a high-ranking Viltrumite warrior and one of the oldest members of his species. Unlike many of his kin, whose motivations are tied to the expansionist goals of the Empire, Conquest is driven by personal pleasure in combat. This distinction makes him a uniquely unpredictable force, as he actively seeks out opponents capable of matching his immense strength.
His history is marked by survival against extreme odds. He survived the Scourge Virus, a bioengineered plague that killed many Viltrumites, and the Great Purge, a civil war spanning the entire planet. The virus was so devastating that it reduced the surviving population to approximately fifty individuals, including Conquest. This biological assault left lasting damage on survivors, impairing their healing factors, resilience, and strength.
This weakened state once left him vulnerable to Rognarrs, a savage species capable of overpowering even Viltrumites. During that encounter, Conquest lost his right eye and his right arm, necessitating a prosthetic. Despite these injuries, he remains one of the strongest members of the Empire, surpassed in physical power only by Grand Regent Thragg.
Conquest's role in the series is that of a brutal enforcer. Sent to Earth to monitor Mark Grayson, he eventually engages in a devastating struggle that leaves Mark near death and results in Conquest's eventual death by suffocation. His presence serves as a narrative turning point, significantly raising the stakes of the conflict through intense violence.
