In short: Discovered at just eleven years old during a school play, Ella Hunt has transitioned from a child actress in period dramas to a versatile singer-songwriter. Her journey spans from the English countryside to the bright lights of New York, encompassing film, television, and music.

Born in London on 29 April 1998, Ella Hunt’s early years were shaped by a childhood on a farm in Parracombe, North Devon. The daughter of art dealer David Grob and sculptor/actress Louise Hunt, she possesses Swiss heritage. Her path to stardom began unexpectedly at Millfield Preparatory School in Somerset, where an agent spotted her talent during a school production when she was eleven. She is the sibling of William and Arthur, and also has three older half-siblings from her father's previous marriage.

Hunt’s acting career progressed through notable film roles, including appearances in Les Misérables (2012) and Robot Overlords (2014). Playing Anna Shepherd in the 2017 movie Anna and the Apocalypse brought her widespread acclaim, securing both a Scottish BAFTA nod and a Toronto After Dark Film Festival ensemble prize. Her TV credits are just as varied, including a repeat appearance in ITV's Cold Feet (2016–2017) and playing Sue Gilbert within the Apple TV+ drama Dickinson (2019–2021). Her filmography also includes the 2011 production Intruders and the 2019 film Summer Night. Her 2020 performance as Kat Malone featured in the movie Kat and the Band.

Beyond the screen, Hunt has established herself as a musician. Since releasing her first single, "Magpie," in April 2020, she has released several EPs, including Triptych in late 2021, Motel Blues, and Fair Weather Lover in 2023. Her musical output continued into 2025 with the singles "Subway Trash" and "Mother's Embrace." In her personal life, Hunt, who came out as queer in March 2021, splits her time between London and Brooklyn Heights, New York, and married musician Thomas "Doveman" Bartlett in January 2026. Her discography includes the track "Holding On," and she was cast as AJ Pascarelli in Mindy Kaling's Not Suitable for Work. Her stage career includes playing Alice in the 2022 Lyric Theatre production of Closer.
