In short: Fab Morvan was the face of Milli Vanilli, a pop sensation that sold millions before a massive fraud scandal erased their Grammy and destroyed their career. Decades later, Morvan has moved from being a punchline to a reclaimed figure, chronicling his journey through memoirs, documentaries, and a recent biopic.

Born in Paris in 1966, Fabrice Morvan moved to Germany at 18, where he met Rob Pilatus in a Munich nightclub. The pair were scouted by producer Frank Farian, who cast them as the public faces of Milli Vanilli. While Morvan and Pilatus performed as the duo, they did not sing on their recordings; instead, Farian used session musicians Charles Shaw, John Davis, and Brad Howell. The 1989 album Girl You Know It's True became a global phenomenon, winning the Grammy for Best New Artist in February 1990.

The facade collapsed in November 1990 when Farian revealed the truth to the press. The fallout was immediate and historic: the group's Grammy was rescinded, and Arista Records deleted the album from its catalogue, making it the largest-selling album to ever be removed from circulation. Despite the public humiliation and failed attempts at a comeback under the name Rob & Fab, Morvan eventually pursued a solo career, releasing his own music and appearing in various media projects that addressed his past.

In recent years, Morvan has actively participated in the cultural reassessment of the Milli Vanilli story. He co-wrote the 2025 memoir You Know It's True and has been involved in film projects, including the 2023 biopic Girl You Know It's True and a documentary acquired by Paramount+. His career has come full circle, moving from the target of a massive industry scandal to a participant in the storytelling of his own life, even earning a nomination for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for his audiobook narration.
