Wildfires and Reality TV: How Love Island All Stars Series Three Overcame Production Delays
In short: The third iteration of the Love Island spin-off faced an unexpected hurdle before it even began. While scheduled for a mid-January 2026 premiere, environmental threats near the South African set forced a three-day delay. Despite this rocky start, the production ultimately became the longest installment of the All Stars series.
Announced in August 2025, the third series of Love Island: All Stars aimed to bring back familiar faces for another attempt at finding connection. The production team, led by presenter Maya Jama and narrator Iain Stirling, faced a significant logistical challenge when wildfires broke out in the vicinity of the South African villa. Originally slated to debut on 12 January 2026, the start date was pushed back to 15 January 2026 to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.
This series distinguished itself by being the longest spin-off season produced to date, following a decision to extend the broadcast schedule by one week. Marketing efforts began in December 2025 with cryptic trailers featuring an evidence board filled with thematic objects, teasing the return of past contestants. The official lineup was revealed on 5 January 2026, though the dynamic shifted throughout the season as various bombshells entered the villa. Notably, the casting pool expanded to include six individuals who had previously participated in the American version of the franchise.
The competition concluded on 23 February 2026, with Ciaran Davies and Samie Elishi emerging as the winners. Both had prior experience in the franchise, having appeared in the eleventh and ninth series respectively. Beyond the primary broadcast on ITV2 and the ITVX streaming platform, the series maintained a global footprint, reaching audiences in Australia via 9Now, New Zealand through TVNZ+, and the United States on Peacock. The series also featured contestants with diverse reality television backgrounds, such as Curtis Pritchard, who participated in the fourth season of Celebrity Ex on the Beach, Yamen Sanders, who appeared on the fourth season of Perfect Match, and Sher, who featured in recent episodes of Vanderpump Villa.
