The dual-citizen prodigy rewriting the record books of Muay Thai
In short: A dominant combat sports figure, Nabil Anane was born in Pattaya to a French father of Algerian descent and a Thai mother. From youth championships to world titles, his rapid ascent through the ranks of Muay Thai and Lethwei marks him as a generational talent in the ring.
Nabil Anane's rise in combat sports has been characterized by exceptional speed and versatility. Born on 30 April 2004, Anane began training in martial arts at age seven, initially focusing on Taekwondo and Karate. By age 11, he had transitioned to Muay Thai at the Petchrungruang camp. This early foundation paved the way for a professional career that includes titles in multiple weight classes and organizations. He began his journey with Taekwondo and Karate before moving to the Petchrungruang camp. Currently, he trains at the Venum camp in Pattaya under Mehdi Zatout.
Anane's achievements are highlighted by his status as the youngest-ever WBC Muay Thai Featherweight world champion, a title he secured on 14 May 2022 after a second-round knockout of Petchnarin SatianMuayThai. His technical proficiency facilitated a rise through major rankings; by June 2025, the WMO ranked him as the top welterweight and among their top 15 pound-for-pound athletes. He also holds former titles in the WBC Muay Thai Lightweight and Bantamweight divisions. Furthermore, he has competed in Lethwei, participating in the World Lethwei Championship. His versatility is further evidenced by his previous victory over Dylan Thorpe at Super Champ Muay Thai.
His career has also been marked by high-stakes competition in ONE Championship. After Superlek Kiatmuu9 withdrew, Anane faced Nico Carrillo in January 2025 for the interim ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship, securing a first-round TKO and a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Despite a loss to Rambolek Chor.Ajalaboon in March 2026, Anane remains a central figure in the sport, holding high rankings and multiple individual accolades from sports associations in Thailand. His skill was also recognised by Combat Press, which ranked him as the ninth best welterweight Muay Thai boxer in 2024. Additionally, he has earned prestigious awards, including the 2024 Breakout Star of the Year title.
