In short: Alistair Scott Martin has spent decades navigating the high-stakes world of professional rallying. From early accidents in the British Rally Championship to securing the 2026 World Rally Championship title, his journey highlights the precision and resilience required to master the world's most demanding terrains.

Born on 6 November 1981, British co-driver Alistair Scott Martin began his professional career at the national level in the UK in 2001. His early years were marked by both significant challenges and rapid ascent. In 2005, he faced a serious accident during the Rally of Wales that required him to be airlifted to a hospital. However, he rebounded quickly, securing his first international win later that same year at the Trackrod Rally alongside Matthew Wilson.

Martin's career is defined by long-term partnerships and steady progression through the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). After competing in the full WRC series with Matthew Wilson between 2008 and 2011, he moved to partner Craig Breen from 2014 to 2018. During that period, the duo secured notable victories, including the 2014 Acropolis Rally in Greece and the Ravens Rock Rally in Ireland. Following Breen's departure from Citroen Total WRT due to the team's downscaling, Martin transitioned to M-Sport Ford WRT in 2019.

His most successful era began with Elfyn Evans. After moving from M-Sport to Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT in 2020, the pair achieved multiple wins, including rallies in Sweden and Turkey. Between 2020 and 2025, Martin and Evans consistently challenged for the title, finishing as runners-up in the WRC on five occasions, with the exception of 2022 when they placed fourth. This decade of dominance culminated in their crowning achievement: winning the 2026 World Rally Championship. Beyond the cockpit, Martin has also engaged in sports governance, co-founding the World Rally Drivers Alliance in 2025 to address FIA controversies regarding driver conduct.
