In short: WWE's 39th annual SummerSlam transformed U.S. Bank Stadium into a two-night battlefield. Featuring the career-ending match of Brock Lesnar and a major shift in broadcasting rights, this event marked a new era for the 'Biggest Party of the Summer' as it moved to ESPN in the United States.

The 2026 edition of SummerSlam, also known as SummerSlam: Minnesota, was a landmark two-part event held on August 1 and August 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium. This marked the first time WWE held a stadium event in Minneapolis, and only the second time the SummerSlam brand visited the city, following a 1999 event at the Target Center. The broadcast was notable for its delivery; following the end of the WWE-Peacock deal in August 2025, it became the inaugural SummerSlam streamed via ESPN in the US.

The 12-match card was split evenly across both nights. Night one was headlined by a Hell in a Cell match, where Raw's Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in what served as Lesnar's final professional wrestling match. This match followed a long-running rivalry sparked when Lesnar attacked Femi on the May 18 episode of Raw. Other notable Night 1 matches included CM Punk defeating Cody Rhodes to retain the SmackDown Undisputed WWE Championship, and Liv Morgan retaining the Raw Women's World Championship against Iyo Sky.

Night two featured a main event where Roman Reigns defeated Seth Rollins to retain the Raw World Heavyweight Championship. This match was the culmination of a rivalry dating back to June 2014, when Rollins attacked Reigns with a steel chair. The second night also saw Chad Gable defeat Penta for the Raw WWE Intercontinental Championship and Chelsea Green win a five-way ladder match to become the interim SmackDown WWE Women's Champion. The event also marked the WWE in-ring debut of Nickis Aldis and the return of Kevin Owens, who had been sidelined by injury since April 2025.
