In short: Forget the farm and the Kents. In this reimagined universe, Superman arrives as a teenager into a world of corporate tyranny. Born into Krypton's lowest class, his journey to heroism is defined by survival against mega-corporations and the heavy burden of his own power.

In the Absolute Universe, the traditional origin of Kal-El is dismantled. Instead of being raised with love and hope by the Kents, Kal-El arrives on Earth as an adolescent. His home planet, Krypton, is depicted as a rigid caste system where his parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, were members of the Labor Guild—the lowest social class. They were scientists who were imprisoned for 'scientific heresy' after discovering that the ruling Science League was feigning ignorance about Krypton's environmental collapse to save themselves.

The transition to Earth is equally harsh. Kal-El lands in a world dominated by the Lazarus Corporation, a conglomerate using rain-prevention technology to seize land. After being reported as an undocumented immigrant, he is hunted by 'Peacemakers.' His relationship with the Kents is strained; while he helps them on their farm, he is ultimately a fugitive. He is aided by an artificial intelligence in his suit named Sol, which helps him navigate human language and technology while he struggles with the morality of his own strength.

This iteration of Superman faces a unique internal conflict regarding violence. After witnessing a Peacemaker murder civilians, Kal-El chooses to refrain from lethal force, even when pressured by the Omega Men—an anti-corporate terrorist group. He faces a physical threat from radioactive bullets made of Kryptonian material, which can pierce his skin. The narrative centers on his struggle to remain a hero in a world where the line between justice and survival is blurred by corporate greed and systemic corruption.
