In short: When an Italian mafia lawyer flees to South Korea to retrieve gold stashed beneath a commercial building, he finds his prize blocked by a corrupt pharmaceutical giant. To reclaim his fortune, he must trade the courtroom for the ruthless tactics of his past, turning eccentric tenants into unlikely allies.

Vincenzo Cassano, born Park Joo-hyung, was adopted by an Italian family at age eight and rose to become a consigliere for the Cassano mafia family. Following the death of his adoptive father, Don Fabio, Vincenzo is forced to flee to Seoul after an assassination attempt by his adoptive brother, Paolo. His primary objective is to recover ₩150 billion in gold bullion hidden in a secret basement beneath Geumga Plaza, a building he secretly owns.

The mission becomes complicated when the Babel Group, a massive pharmaceutical corporation that is actually a front for a drug cartel, illegally seizes the plaza to demolish it. Vincenzo initially attempts to navigate the situation through legal channels, but after the murder of attorney Hong Yoo-chan, he realizes conventional law is powerless against Babel. He pivots to using his mafia-honed skills—including kidnapping and torture—to dismantle the corporation from within, aided by the building's quirky tenants and Hong Cha-young, the victim's daughter.

The conflict escalates when Vincenzo discovers the Guillotine file, a USB containing incriminating evidence against powerful politicians and the Babel Group. This discovery makes him a target for both the cartel and corrupt officials. As the series progresses, the battle shifts from a simple property dispute into a high-stakes game of survival where Vincenzo must stay ahead of his enemies. The show, which aired in 2021, became a global hit on Netflix, peaking at the fourth rank on the platform's international charts in April of that year.
