In short: After 19 seasons, a legendary coaching tenure has reached its conclusion. The 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers season was a rollercoaster of record-breaking consistency, veteran quarterback transitions, and a dramatic division title victory, all culminating in the unexpected resignation of one of the franchise's most successful leaders.

The 2025 season marked a historic milestone for the Steelers, as they secured their 22nd consecutive non-losing season. This achievement allowed them to break the long-standing record held by the 1965–1985 Dallas Cowboys, who had achieved 21 straight non-losing seasons. Amidst this stability, the team experienced significant personnel shifts, most notably the arrival of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in his 21st league season, following the departures of Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.

The season was defined by high-stakes drama and statistical peaks. While the offense reached a high point, scoring 42 of their 45 total touchdowns, the team faced significant adversity. A fractured left wrist for Rodgers forced Mason Rudolph into action during a Week 11 clash with the Bengals. The team also navigated disciplinary hurdles, including a five-game suspension for Daniel Ekuale and a late-season suspension for receiver DK Metcalf following an altercation with a fan.

Ultimately, the season ended in both triumph and heartbreak. The Steelers ended a four-year AFC North drought by defeating the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18, finishing the regular season with a 10–7 record. However, their playoff run was short-lived; a 30–6 defeat by the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round marked their seventh consecutive postseason loss dating back to 2016. On January 13, following the season's end, Mike Tomlin announced his resignation, leaving a legacy of 193–114–2 regular season wins and a Super Bowl XLIII title.
