Released on 28 July 2023, the Telugu-language fantasy comedy *Bro* is a remake of director Samuthirakani's 2021 Tamil film *Vinodhaya Sitham*. The film follows Mark, an IT employee in Hyderabad who is primarily focused on his own interests, until a car accident forces a confrontation with mortality. Accompanied by the entity "Time" or "Titan," Mark is given ninety days to settle his personal and professional affairs, under the strict condition that he must keep the arrangement a secret.
The narrative explores Mark's transformation from a self-centered individual into a responsible family man. During his final months, he navigates complex family dynamics involving his mother, Easwari, who is diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease, and his siblings, Veena, Gayathri, and Arun. The story also reveals a karmic connection: the man who took the promotion Mark once coveted, Venugopal, is the brother of a man Mark cheated seven years prior to secure his current job.
Despite its commercial scale, the film received mixed critical reception. While some reviewers praised the comedy and performances, others were less impressed. Critics from *The Times of India* and *The News Minute* gave the film 2 out of 5 stars, citing a predictable narrative and a "stage-play-like" treatment. Other reviewers noted that the film's commercialization may have hindered the success of the original Tamil version, with some suggesting the messaging was lost in the chaos of the storytelling.
