In short: From the brink of relegation to the summit of French football, Christophe Galtier's managerial career is a masterclass in resurgence. Known for developing elite talent, the three-time Manager of the Year has navigated the highest highs and most intense legal controversies in the modern game.

Born in Marseille on 23 August 1966, Galtier's journey began as a defender with a 15-year playing career that spanned France, Italy, and China. However, it was his transition to the dugout that defined his legacy. After years as an assistant to coaches like Alain Perrin, Galtier took the helm at Saint-Étienne in December 2009. Tasked with saving a club in danger of relegation, he not only secured their safety but led them to a Coupe de la Ligue title in 2013.

His ability to revitalize struggling squads became his trademark. In 2017, he took over a Lille side sitting in 18th place, eventually guiding them to a second-place finish in 2018–19 and a historic Ligue 1 title in 2020–21. During this period, he earned widespread acclaim for his tactical acumen and his capacity to nurture young stars such as Jonathan David, Renato Sanches, and Mike Maignan. This success earned him his third Ligue 1 Manager of the Year award.

Galtier's career has not been without profound turbulence. In 2023, he faced a high-profile investigation involving allegations of racial and religious discrimination during his time at Nice. While the investigation led to his temporary custody alongside his son, John Valovic-Galtier, Galtier denied all accusations and was ultimately acquitted by the court. Following spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Duhail, he continues his global journey as the head coach of the Saudi Pro League club Neom.
