The American-born playmaker rewriting the history books of European basketball
In short: From a four-star recruit in North Carolina to a record-breaking force in the EuroLeague, Codi Miller-McIntyre’s journey is a masterclass in professional resilience. After going undrafted in 2016, the American-born guard navigated elite leagues across Belgium, Russia, and Spain, eventually rewriting the history books as a naturalized Bulgarian star.
Codi Miller-McIntyre’s career is defined by a remarkable ability to thrive in diverse basketball landscapes. After a standout collegiate career at Wake Forest University, where he accumulated 1,329 points and 441 assists, the American-born guard faced early professional hurdles. Following the 2016 NBA draft, where he went undrafted, he began a nomadic and successful ascent through Europe, finding early dominance with the Leuven Bears in Belgium, where he led the league in both scoring and assists.
His trajectory has seen him compete for prestigious clubs across several nations, including Parma Basket in Russia, Cedevita Olimpija in Slovenia, and JL Bourg in France. A significant milestone occurred in 2023 when he received Bulgarian citizenship via naturalization, allowing him to represent the Bulgarian national team internationally. This period of his career also highlighted a philanthropic side; while playing in Perm for the VTB United League, he spent time visiting schools and teaching English.
The pinnacle of his individual achievement came during his tenure with Crvena zvezda. In April 2026, Miller-McIntyre etched his name into the EuroLeague record books by setting a new single-season assist record. He finished the season with 289 assists, surpassing the previous record held by Nick Calathes by exactly three assists. With this achievement, he became just the third individual to achieve a triple-double within the EuroLeague. Following his historic run, he signed a three-year contract with Olympiacos in July 2026, continuing his pursuit of excellence in the Greek Basketball League.
