In short: From the youth ranks of Red Star Belgrade to the heights of the NBA, Marko Jarić’s journey was defined by immense talent. He achieved unprecedented Italian titles and secured major international gold medals, all while navigating a high-profile life involving massive professional contracts and a famous marriage to supermodel Adriana Lima.

Born in Belgrade on 12 October 1978, Marko Jarić entered a basketball dynasty as the son of Srećko Jarić, a prominent player for Radnički Belgrade. Carrying a significant legacy, the 2.01 m tall guard quickly rose through the ranks, earning an All-EuroLeague First Team selection in 2002 and securing gold medals with the FR Yugoslavia junior national team at the 1998 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship.

Jarić’s European tenure was marked by unprecedented success in Italy. No other athlete had previously secured consecutive Italian League titles with separate clubs, clinching trophies via Fortitudo Bologna in 2000 and Virtus Bologna in 2001. On the international level, his supremacy continued as he guided FR Yugoslavia to victory during the 2001 EuroBasket and 2002 FIBA World Championship.

His transition to the NBA began with the Los Angeles Clippers, who selected him 30th overall in the 2000 draft. While his American career included a massive six-year, $40 million contract following a trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2005, his later years were defined by movement. After stints with the Grizzlies and various European clubs like Real Madrid and Montepaschi Siena, Jarić eventually retired following brief periods with the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets.

Beyond the court, Jarić’s personal life captured global attention through his marriage to Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima. The pair wed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Valentine's Day 2009, though their marriage ended in separation in 2014 and a finalized divorce in 2016.
