However, by his junior year, he had reached 6 feet 1 inch. His time at Northeastern Junior College saw further development, as he grew another three inches to reach 6 feet 6 inches. Originally born in Fargo, North Dakota, he spent his formative years in Thornton, Colorado. This growth spurt followed his time at Prairie View High School in Henderson.
This physical maturation accompanied a prolific scoring surge. After an initial freshman season at Northeastern averaging 13.3 points, he jumped to 23.9 points per game as a sophomore. After his final year at Northern Colorado, during which he topped the Big Sky Conference averages with 20.2 points per game, he moved to Tennessee for the 2023–24 campaign. At Tennessee, his scoring reached new heights, including a 40-point performance on senior night against Kentucky. During his first year with the Northern Colorado Bears, he averaged 8.9 points and 3.6 rebounds. His senior season also earned him Second-team All-Big Sky honors.
His collegiate dominance earned him SEC Player of the Year honors from both the Associated Press and league coaches, alongside SEC Newcomer of the Year. In the 2024 NBA draft, the Lakers selected him 17th overall. His professional debut in October 2024 quickly showcased his perimeter threat; by November 19, 2024, he recorded 37 points, including nine three-pointers, tying the record for most three-pointers made in a single game by an NBA rookie. The Lakers officially signed him on July 3, 2024. His professional journey has already seen him assigned to the South Bay Lakers as of December 15, 2025.
