Born into wrestling royalty, Davey Boy Smith Jr. forged his own global championship path.
In short: Born in Calgary to a legendary wrestling dynasty, Harry Francis Smith began training at age eight. He evolved from a third-generation prospect into a decorated international competitor, capturing major titles across Japan and North America while navigating the high-pressure world of professional wrestling under several different ring names.
Born on August 2, 1985, Harry Francis Smith is the son of British wrestling icon Davey Boy Smith and Diana Hart, daughter of the legendary promoter Stu Hart. Immersed in the industry from childhood, Smith began formal training with his father and uncle Bruce Hart at age eight. By age eleven, he made his first appearance for the World Wrestling Federation, eventually debuting professionally at fifteen for the Calgary-based Stampede Wrestling. His heritage placed him within the expansive Hart family, a lineage deeply woven into the fabric of professional wrestling history.
Smith’s career is defined by his extensive international experience, particularly in Japan. After early tours and developmental stints in the United States, he found significant success in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Joining the Suzuki-gun stable in 2012, he partnered with Lance Archer to form a dominant tag team. This collaboration led to multiple IWGP Tag Team Championship reigns. Beyond Japan, he has held titles in the National Wrestling Alliance and Major League Wrestling, proving his versatility across different wrestling cultures and promotions.
His tenure in WWE, spanning 2006 to 2011, saw him compete as David Hart Smith and DH Smith. As part of The Hart Dynasty alongside Tyson Kidd and Natalya, he achieved success by winning the Unified Tag Team Championship in 2010. Despite the eventual dissolution of the team and his subsequent release in 2011, Smith continued to thrive on the independent circuit. Whether wrestling as a singles competitor or a tag team specialist, he has maintained a consistent presence in the ring for over two decades, balancing his family legacy with his own professional identity.
