The man who stepped into a legend's mask to save a legacy
In short: In the world of Lucha Libre, a mask is more than fabric; it is a sacred identity. When the original Místico left Mexico's premier promotion, Carlos Muñoz González was chosen to inherit the mantle. His journey from a trainee to a multi-time champion reveals the complex mechanics of wrestling lineage.
Carlos Muñoz González, known professionally as Dralístico, was born in 1991 in Jalisco, Mexico. He was raised in a deep wrestling dynasty; his father, Arturo Muñoz (La Bestia del Ring), his brother Rush, and his uncles—including Pit Bull I and Pit Bull II—all provided his foundational training. Following a pair of years spent training, Muñoz relocated to Mexico City for a spot with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), making his first appearance in 2010 as Dragon Lee.
The turning point of his career came in 2012. Following the departure of the original Místico to WWE, wrestling priest Fray Tormenta selected Muñoz as the character's successor. He immediately accepted, embarking on a six-week publicity tour to introduce the 'new era' of Místico. His debut as the second incarnation of the character on August 3, 2012, was a massive success, drawing 12,600 fans to Arena México. This transition allowed him to become a cornerstone of the promotion, winning titles such as the CMLL World Welterweight Championship and the CMLL World Trios Championship.
Muñoz's career is defined by high-stakes competition and physical sacrifice. He has competed globally with promotions like New Japan Pro-Wrestling and AAA, and even made appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Despite a career marked by significant injuries—including a shoulder injury in 2012 and a severe motorcycle accident in 2014 that resulted in broken bones in his leg—he remained a top competitor. In 2021, he officially transitioned to his current name, Dralístico, a portmanteau of his previous ring names, marking a new chapter of independence from the Místico persona.
