From Tirana's youth academy to a €10 million transfer in Turkey
In short: Ernest Muçi has rapidly ascended through the ranks of European football. Starting as a teenage prospect in Albania, the versatile attacking midfielder has since secured major titles in Poland and earned a high-profile move to the Turkish Süper Lig, proving his technical ability on the continent's biggest stages.
Born in Tirana in 2001, Muçi’s professional journey began at his childhood club, KF Tirana. After making his senior debut in January 2018 at just 16 years and 10 months old, he became a vital component of the squad that secured the Kategoria e Parë title on 16 May 2018. During his three-year tenure in Albania, he demonstrated remarkable productivity, scoring 23 goals and helping the club secure its 25th league title during the 2019–20 season.
His move to the Polish Ekstraklasa with Legia Warsaw in February 2021 marked a significant step up in competition. Muçi's time in Poland was defined by versatility; he has described himself as capable of playing as a winger, a striker, an attacking midfielder, or a false nine. He contributed to Legia winning the Ekstraklasa title in his first season and later secured the Polish Cup in 2022 and the Polish Super Cup in 2023. His ability to perform in European competitions was also evident, including scoring against sides like Aston Villa in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
In February 2024, Muçi's rising stock was confirmed when he joined the Turkish Süper Lig club Beşiktaş for a reported fee of €10 million. His transition to Turkish football was immediate, as he started 12 consecutive Süper Lig matches shortly after his arrival. His career trajectory—moving from the Albanian top flight to Polish championships and then to a major Turkish club—highlights the rapid development of a player who has become a mainstay for the Albania national team since his senior debut in 2022.
