When the heroes win, the villains are forced to perform for the fans.
In short: Imagine a world where the heroes won thirteen years ago, but the victory turned into a nightmare. The defeated villains are now forced to reenact their own destruction every Sunday as a public spectacle. This is the bizarre, subversive reality of the manga series Go! Go! Loser Ranger!
The story centers on the Dragon Keepers, a Super Sentai squadron that defeated the Villainous Army of Evil over a decade ago. While the army's Executives were wiped out, the surviving foot soldiers—known as Dusters—possess near-immortality. This biological quirk has led to a grotesque status quo: the Dusters are enslaved, forced to perform a choreographed 'defeat' for a crowd of spectators every week. This cycle of public humiliation serves as the primary catalyst for the narrative's rebellion.
The protagonist is a rebellious Duster who decides to infiltrate the Dragon Keepers' organization to dismantle the system from within. To achieve this, he adopts multiple identities, including a seemingly average teenage boy and a persona named Hibiki. He is joined by an independent Ranger cadet who, despite being aware of the organization's deep-seated corruption, seeks to restore the Keepers' original sense of justice. Their alliance is complicated by a third party: a Junior First-Class Ranger with a mysterious grudge who aims to collect the Keepers' 'Divine Tools.'
The hierarchy of the Dragon Keepers is rigid, consisting of five 'First Class' leaders who command various battalions. These leaders possess Divine Tools capable of permanently killing members of the Villainous Army. However, the series subverts the typical 'hero' trope by revealing the Keepers' internal rot. For instance, the Red Keeper, Sosei Akabane, is revealed to have an extremely violent nature, while other members are revealed to be products of blackmail, tragedy, or personal obsession. The manga explores the moral ambiguity of a 'heroic' system built on slavery and systemic corruption.
