From professional football pitch to the wrestling ring
In short: Grant Holt’s career is a testament to relentless movement. After scoring 30 goals in a single season for Norwich City, the striker transitioned from the football pitch to the professional wrestling ring, winning his first match in a 40-man Royal Rumble.
Grant Holt’s footballing journey is defined by a remarkable ascent through the English leagues. After a breakthrough at Rochdale, where he scored 42 goals in 83 appearances, he moved to Nottingham Forest in January 2006 for £300,000. Despite a period of playing out of position as a winger, he finished the 2006–07 season as Forest's top scorer with 18 goals, earning the club's Player of the Season award.
His most prolific era arrived at Norwich City, where he joined in July 2009. Holt became a cornerstone of the club, helping them achieve back-to-back promotions and winning the Norwich City Player of the Year award for three consecutive seasons. His impact was so significant that he was eventually inducted into the club's Hall of Fame on 20 March 2012. He also reached the milestone of 150 career goals during his tenure.
Beyond the football pitch, Holt explored the world of professional wrestling. After signing with the World Association of Wrestling in May 2018, he competed in three matches, winning all of them. His debut victory came as the sole survivor in a 40-man Royal Rumble, an achievement that earned him the Crusher Mason Memorial Trophy.
Holt's career has been marked by versatility and endurance. He has played in all four English divisions and has transitioned from a striker to a coach and scout, holding roles at Norwich City, West Ham United, and as a Director of Football at Langley School.
