From NFL wide receiver to reality TV star: the dual life of Hank Baskett
In short: He was a standout collegiate athlete and a professional football player for the Vikings, Eagles, and Colts. Yet, Henry Randall Baskett III is perhaps best known to a different audience for his high-profile marriage and starring roles in reality television series.
Born on September 4, 1982, in Clovis, New Mexico, Henry Randall Baskett III established himself as a formidable talent at the University of New Mexico. During the 2004 and 2005 seasons, he served as the team's leading receiver, earning the Reese Leroy Hill Memorial Award as Offensive Player of the Year. His senior season was particularly dominant, where he recorded 67 receptions for 1,071 yards and nine touchdowns, earning All-Mountain West Conference honors.
Baskett's professional football career began in 2006 as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings. Following a trade to the Philadelphia Eagles that same year, he enjoyed a productive rookie season, recording 22 receptions for an average of over 20 yards per catch. His time in Philadelphia included being named the 2007 special teams MVP. However, his NFL journey was marked by frequent movement between rosters, including stints with the Indianapolis Colts and a return to the Vikings.
Beyond the gridiron, Baskett became a fixture in reality television through his marriage to Kendra Wilkinson. The couple married in June 2009 at the Playboy Mansion and starred in several series, including the E! show 'Kendra,' which debuted in June 2009 to a record-breaking 2.6 million viewers. While his athletic career saw significant milestones, including playing in Super Bowl XLIV, his personal life remained a central focus of the media, spanning through the later series 'Kendra on Top' on WE tv.
