In short: At age ten, Jason Robertson’s family left California for Michigan to chase a single dream: better ice hockey opportunities. That decision fueled a meteoric rise from junior leagues to becoming one of the most prolific young scorers in the National Hockey League.

Born in Arcadia, California, on July 22, 1999, Robertson’s path was shaped by a strategic relocation to Northville, Michigan. This move allowed him to develop within elite programs like the Detroit Kings AAA and Little Caesars. His talent was evident early; by age 16, he joined the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL, becoming the youngest player possible to join a junior roster.

His junior career was defined by historic scoring bursts. In the 2018–19 season, after a mid-season trade to the Niagara IceDogs, Robertson achieved remarkable dominance, earning both the CHL Top Scorer Award and the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy. His ability to find the net was unparalleled, as he once accounted for nearly 39 percent of his team's total goals in a single season.

Since joining the Dallas Stars, Robertson has transitioned from a promising prospect to an elite NHL winger. He earned a spot as a runner-up for the Calder Memorial Trophy in 2021 and achieved a rare feat in 2022 by recording hat-tricks in consecutive games—the first Dallas player to do so. Today, known by the nickname 'Robo,' he remains a cornerstone of the Stars' offense.

Beyond the ice, Robertson’s heritage reflects a global story. He is of Scottish and Filipino descent, with a mother who immigrated to the United States from Manila as a child. He stands as only the third player of Filipino descent to reach the NHL, following in the footsteps of Matt Dumba and Tim Stapleton.
