In short: Before he was a household name in Bengali cinema, Jeet was a model navigating the transition from television to the big screen. His journey from a teenage debut to commanding pan-India releases reveals the shifting landscape of Indian regional film success.

Jeet's career began in 1993 as a model, but his transition to acting arrived in 1995 with the film Daughters of This Century, directed by Tapan Sinha. At just 18 years old, he took on his first acting assignment in the Hindi TV series Vish Briksha, directed by Bishnu Palcha الحمد. While his early years included roles in Telugu cinema, such as the 2001 film Chandu, it was the 2002 romantic drama Sathi that secured his status as a leading man.

The success of Sathi, directed by Haranath Chakraborty, earned him prestigious accolades, including the Bengal Film Journalists' Association – Most Promising Actor Award. He followed this with a string of hits like Nater Guru, which earned him a second Anandalok Award for Best Actor in 2003. His career has been marked by both significant commercial triumphs and notable failures, such as Saathihara and Priyotoma, reflecting the volatile nature of the film industry.

By 2010, Jeet was a major box office force; his film Dui Prithibi was identified as the year's highest grosser by a study from FICCI and Deloitte. He later expanded his reach with the 2013 crime thriller Boss: Born to Rule, his first pan-India release, which grossed ₹6.75 crore (approximately US$700,000). Recent milestones include the 2023 film Chengiz, which achieved a historic first for Bengali cinema by releasing simultaneously in both Bengali and Hindi languages.

Beyond acting, Jeet has established himself as a producer under the Jeetz Filmworks and Grassroot Entertainment banners. His versatility extends to television, where he has hosted programs like Bigg Boss Bangla and Koti Takar Baaji, cementing his role as a central figure in Indian entertainment.
