In short: Formed in 2010 from the remnants of several Ohio bands, Like Moths to Flames has navigated a turbulent musical career. From signing with Rise Records to facing internal scandals and significant roster changes, the band has maintained a steady output of studio albums and EPs through constant evolution.

The band emerged in early 2010, led by vocalist Chris Roetter, who previously performed with Agraceful and Emarosa. The original lineup included members from the Ohio metalcore group TerraFirma, such as Aaron Evans, Zach Huston, Aaron Douglas, and Jordan Matz. This foundation allowed them to quickly secure a deal with Rise Records by October 2010, shortly after releasing their debut EP, Sweet Talker.

The group's history is marked by frequent personnel shifts. While Roetter remains the sole original member, the band has seen many others pass through its ranks. For example, drummer Jordan Matz was replaced by Lance Greenfield before the release of Sweet Talker, and guitarist Zach Huston departed after the All Stars Tour 2014, eventually being replaced by Jeremy Smith in late 2015. In a more recent and controversial shift, founding member Aaron Evans was dismissed on January 25, 2023, following allegations of manipulation and gaslighting.

Despite these disruptions, the band has achieved notable commercial milestones. Their 2013 album, An Eye for an Eye, reached number 63 on the Billboard 200, while their 2015 release, The Dying Things We Live For, debuted at number 150. After parting ways with Rise Records in May 2019, the band signed with UNFD, continuing their momentum with releases like the 2020 album No Eternity in Gold and their sixth studio album, The Cycles of Trying to Cope, released in May 2024.

The band's discography is vast, comprising six studio albums and five EPs. Their evolution from early demos like 'Avada Kedavra' to complex, themed releases demonstrates a persistent drive to navigate the complexities of the metalcore genre.
