In short: Manjari’s musical journey is a study in versatility, spanning from the raw energy of a Kolkata rock band to the intricate discipline of Hindustani Classical music. She has mastered multiple languages and genres, becoming a rare bridge between mainstream Indian cinema and elite classical traditions.

Manjari began her musical path in the eighth grade, performing with the Kolkata-based rock band Shiva. This early exposure to live performance laid the groundwork for a career that would eventually span over 300 songs across Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu cinema. Her entry into the film industry was marked by a debut in the Sathyan Anthikad movie Achuvinte Amma, where she performed both a duet with Dr. K.J. Yesudas and a solo track, working under the guidance of composer Ilaiyaraaja.

While she achieved significant commercial success as a playback singer—winning several awards including two Kerala State Film Awards (2004 and 2008)—she has maintained a rigorous commitment to classical roots. Since 2003, she has performed Hindustani Classical concerts globally under the banner 'Soorya' and continues her studies under Pandit Ramesh Julé of the Kirana Gharana. This duality allows her to navigate both the popular appeal of television title songs and the sophisticated nuances of the Ghazal genre.

Her recognition in the world of Urdu poetry is particularly notable. In 2016, she became the youngest Indian to receive the Sahir and Adeeb International Award for her contributions to Urdu and Ghazals, joining the ranks of legends like Gulzar and Javed Akhtar. By composing her own original Ghazals, such as 'Ab Etbaar Nahi' in 2020, she has transitioned from an interpreter of others' works to a creator of her own musical identity, blending traditional mastery with modern distribution via her own digital platforms.
