In short: Before he was a cornerstone of the Baltimore Ravens defense, Marlon Humphrey was a world-class track athlete. A silver medalist in the 110 metres hurdles, his explosive speed wasn't just for the track—it became the foundation for a dominant professional football career.

Marlon Humphrey’s athletic pedigree was established long before his arrival in the NFL. While attending Hoover High School, he achieved global success by taking second place in the 110 metres hurdles at Donetsk, Ukraine, during the 2013 World Youth Championships. His performance there, clocking 13.24 seconds, placed him just behind Jamaica's Jaheel Hyde. His versatility was equally evident on the track, where he held Alabama state indoor records for the 60m, 60m hurdles, 400m, and the 4x400m relay.

When Humphrey transitioned to the University of Alabama, he initially intended to balance both football and track. However, he eventually focused solely on the gridiron, leading to a highly decorated collegiate stint. In 2015, he was a key component of the Crimson Tide defense that secured the CFP National Championship. By the end of his college career in 2016, he had earned All-American honors and was widely regarded as one of the premier defensive backs in the country.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Humphrey in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft, and he has remained with the franchise ever since. His professional trajectory has been marked by significant milestones, including multiple Pro Bowl selections (2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024) and first-team All-Pro honors in 2019 and 2024. Despite facing injuries, such as a torn pectoral muscle in 2021 and foot surgery in 2023, Humphrey has solidified his reputation as a premier cornerback through consistent, high-level play.
