In short: In 2011, Marquis Teague was ranked as the number one point guard in the nation. After a championship run at Kentucky and a stint in the NBA, his career took him across the globe, from the courts of Israel and Russia to leagues in Korea and Britain.

Marquis Teague entered the basketball spotlight as a standout high school talent. By 2011, he was recognized as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, holding the distinction of being the top-rated point guard and the fifth-best player in the country. His talent was evident on the international stage as well; in July 2010, he helped lead a gold medal-winning team at the FIBA U-17 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, alongside future Kentucky teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

At the University of Kentucky, Teague played a role in securing the program's eighth national championship. His collegiate career included notable performances, such as a game against Portland where he recorded a career-high of eight assists and four steals without committing a single turnover. Following his college success, he entered the professional ranks when the Chicago Bulls selected him with the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Teague's professional path became a true odyssey through various international leagues. Following stints in the NBA and the Development League with teams like the Iowa Energy and the Oklahoma City Blue, he expanded his reach far beyond American borders. He signed with Ironi Nahariya in Israel in 2016, moved to Avtodor Saratov in Russia later that year, and competed in South Korea with Jeonju KCC Egis. His journey continued through the British club London Lions and the Greek club Kolossos Rodou, illustrating the diverse landscape of professional basketball.

Basketball talent often runs in families. Born to Shawn and Carol Teague, Marquis has four siblings, one of whom is NBA All-Star Jeff Teague. His father, Shawn, was an Indiana All-Star who played for both Norm Stewart at the University of Missouri and Rick Pitino at Boston University.
