This defensive dominance peaked on January 26, 2003, when his unit helped the Buccaneers secure their first franchise title with a victory in Super Bowl XXXVII. His ability to maintain defensive stability even during coaching transitions, such as the arrival of Jon Gruden, was central to the team's championship balance.
Kiffin's career was also defined by deep professional and personal ties. He spent much of his later years coaching alongside his son, Lane Kiffin, serving in various capacities at Tennessee, USC, and Florida Atlantic. His journey, which began as a player at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, concluded in Oxford, Mississippi, where he passed away on July 11, 2024. His legacy remains etched in the tactical DNA of modern football, proving that true influence often lies in the brilliance of the scheme rather than the title of the head coach.
