How the world's best drag queens battle for the crown
In short: Beyond the glitter and the lip-syncing lies a high-stakes international arena. RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World brings together the most elite performers from across the globe to compete in a format that evolves with every single season.
The international all-stars series, a spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, premiered on 1 February 2022. Hosted by RuPaul with Michelle Visage and alternating judges like Alan Carr and Graham Norton, the show pits international queens against one another to determine who becomes the 'Queen of the Mothertucking World.' The stakes are high: winners receive a crown, a scepter, and a feature in a RuPaul song.
The competition's mechanics have shifted significantly over its iterations. The first two series utilized a format similar to seasons two through four of the original US All Stars. In this version, the two top performers of a challenge compete in a lip-sync, with the winner earning a golden 'RuPeter Badge' and the authority to eliminate a bottom performer. The finale concludes with a Lip Sync For The Crown tournament among the top four contestants.
However, the third series introduced a departure in gameplay, adopting a format reminiscent of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. the World. In this iteration, the top performer receives the 'RuPeter Badge' and the power of the 'Chippy Tea,' allowing them to save one of the bottom three queens from elimination. This process continues until six queens remain, at which point the show reverts to the classic Drag Race judging format for the final showdown.
The series has seen distinct winners and eras. The inaugural series saw Blu Hydrangea crowned winner with Mo Heart as runner-up. Following a two-year hiatus, the second series aired on 9 February 2024, won by Tia Kofi with Hannah Conda as runner-up. The third series, which began airing on 27 January 2026, saw Gawdland take the title, with Kate Butch finishing as the runner-up.
