In short: Imagine a reality competition where elimination is abolished. In the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, eight past winners competed for the title of Queen of All Queens without the threat of being cut. Instead, the stakes shifted from survival to a strategic accumulation of prestige.

The season, which premiered on Paramount+ on May 20, 2022, introduced a radical structural shift from the traditional knockout format. Rather than narrowing the field each week, all eight returning winners remained in the competition throughout the twelve-episode run. The primary objective became the collection of 'Legendary Legend Stars,' with two top performers awarded these stars during each episode.

The mechanics of the competition introduced a layer of strategic maneuvering. The winner of the weekly 'Lip Sync For Your Legacy'—a duel between the top two performers—received a cash tip and a significant power move: the ability to block a fellow queen from receiving a star the following week. This transformed the competition into a game of both performance and social navigation, where queens had to balance their own advancement against the potential sabotage of their peers.

The season culminated in a dual-path finale. The four queens who amassed the most stars faced off in a 'Lip Sync Smackdown' to determine the ultimate winner. At the same time, Raja secured the secondary 'Queen of She Done Already Done Had Herses' title and a $50,000 award during a concurrent Smackdown involving the final four queens.

This format represents a departure from the 'survival of the fittest' trope common in reality television, opting instead for a cumulative scoring system. By removing the immediate pressure of elimination, the show allowed for a sustained narrative of growth and rivalry among established icons of the drag community.
