In short: Originally established by the Immigration Department of Malaysia in 2015, this club has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once known as Immigration Football Club, the team navigated local leagues before securing a historic promotion to the Malaysia Super League. Now rebranded as Star City F.C., they are preparing for a new era.

The club began its journey in 2015 in Semenyih, founded by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Initially, the team focused on competitions within the Klang Valley and participated in the KLFA Super League. Their early development was marked by steady progress, including a notable performance as runners-up in the 2019 Kuala Lumpur League, which earned them a promotion to the Malaysia M3 League.

The club's trajectory faced significant disruption in 2020. While they made their debut in the Malaysia FA Cup that February with a 2–0 victory over Staroba, the remainder of the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No league titles or promotions were awarded during that cancelled campaign. However, the team eventually regained momentum, recording a 1–0 win against BRM in the 2023 Malaysia FA Cup before falling to Kuala Lumpur City.

A major breakthrough occurred in February 2025, when the club finished as runners-up in the 2024–25 Malaysia A1 Semi-Pro League. This achievement secured their first-ever promotion to the Malaysia Super League. Their competitive spirit was further highlighted during the 2025 Malaysia FA Cup, where a stoppage-time goal by João Pedro secured a win against Terengganu in the round of 16. Following these successes, the club officially rebranded as Star City Football Club on July 1, 2026, as they prepared for the 2026–27 Malaysia Super League season.

Today, the club is owned by the IFC Corporation Sdn Bhd and is based in Kangar, having moved from its original home in Alor Setar. The transition from a departmental team to a professional entity in the top tier of Malaysian football reflects a decade of strategic growth and resilience, setting the stage for their future in the national league.
